Thank You Lord for Your Word! It is alive and active, and it causes us, Your children, to be alive and active when we hear it and read it! Amen!
Look at the connections in “Ponder” today:
* In today’s reading order
As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
Whoever keeps the fig tree will eat its fruit; So he who waits on his master will be honored.
As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.
Hell and Destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied.
The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, And a man is valued by what others say of him.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
James 4:8 (Sapphires by Jonathan Cahn)
“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
II Corinthians 5:20-21 (Pocket Prayers by Max Lucado)
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
I Timothy 6:12 (Verse of the day – Bible.com & KLOVE) (All Scriptures are NKJV unless otherwise noted)
Working from 1 Timothy backwards up the list, this is an encouragement for me to “keep on keeping on.” There are people watching. Many of them God has placed in your life for a specific purpose, and when these people are revealed, sometimes you get another glimpse of where you’re going. Whoever YOU are, keep fighting the good fight of faith. The rewards are eternal, and some may be now or soon coming.
Now rest in the fact that you can’t earn Christ’s righteousness. Just receive it. And draw near to Him.be clean and pure and single-minded, and single-minded. If we do that, it’s possible that folks would speak well of you – value you. All the selected Proverbs verses are good, but I’m going to focus on verse 20 as I come to a close.
“Hell and Destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied.” Interesting. Comparing a man’s eyes with Hell and destruction. I have to refer to 1 John 2:16 here, where John says, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.”
So, what I see is, if I allow my eyes to keep rampantly seeing all that is of this world, not only is that not of the Father, but it is akin to living in Hell and destruction. Been there, done that. I regret every experience. And I don’t have a t-shirt. I’m not bragging about it.
What I will say is that God changed everything in my life. “But me He caught—reached all the way from sky to sea; He pulled me out Of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos, the void in which I was drowning. They hit me when I was down, but GOD stuck by me. He stood me up on a wide-open field; I stood there saved—surprised to be loved!”
Psalm 18:16-19 MSG
Whew! I am so blessed! And my future was never brighter than when I surrendered to Him. And I haven’t seen but a tiny bit of what He will do. I’ll keep on fighting the good fight of faith. Come along and fight with me. He’s calling. Don’t wait. Don’t waste another second. Turn to Him. He’s waiting.
Be well and have a blessed day! You are a blessing!
